Some players try to take the high cards when playing the game, which is often referred to as Kuhn Style. You will probably never be able to make money from doing this because it makes the game so hard to learn, but it will help you to look for more hands in the future.

Playing the flop allows you to choose to raise or call and this means that your opponents are trying to get their opponents to take theirs in the hope that your opponents will fold. You should not raise unless you have to or when you are confident that you will still win the pot if you do not have to.
